This is the LO I did for the Lets Get Shabby Blog for November. The story is about my Grand Father and my Grand Mother. I made almost all the embellishments for the page so that one wouldn't over shadow the other. My first thought about this challenge was to make a parchment scroll. A few days before the challenge went up my mother hen had attacked the pheasant coucal who had stolen 6 of her 10 chickens. She pulled several of it's feathers out and they were so strikingly marked that I didn't want to waste them. I decided that they were just what I needed for a quill.I wrote the riddle on the paper before distressing inking, and rolling it. Then I added a couple of ribbon roses to decorate it. For the journaling tag I used pp which I cut with a pattern I had. I used rubons to decorate it and cut the end with the Fickers water threading punch. The Title is made from a velvet ribbon which I crushed with BG lettering.I'm adding closeups of the embellishments.
BEAUTIFUL layout, Muriel!! I LOVE the story about the feather, great idea to use it for this layout!! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Shabby!
Hi Muriel, Welcome to Lets get Shabby, I love your shabby style and making your own elements for this layout is perfect....the feather sure came in handy too!!
I was born in Gympie. Grew up to the age of 14 on a dairy farm when our family moved to a seaside town on the Sunshine Coast. I married at 20 and had four children. We moved a lot till we settled in the Mary Valley and I put my foot down and said "that is it I'm staying here" We parted company after 27 years and I have been single since. This gives me plenty of time to scrapbook which is good as I have lots to scrap. I joined Scrap Therapy when my daughter, [who I had been encouraging to learn to scrap for years,] bought the site. There I have learned so much about scrapbooking and have decided that my favourite style is shabby chic.
